Gottheimer (D-NJ) – Amendment No. 10 – Increases and decreases funding under the Medical Services account to support the inclusion of a resident advocate at every veterans home. A resident advocate would act as a liaison between a veterans home administration and residents, receive complaints, grievances, or concerns from the residents, and, if appropriate, submit them to the relevant ombudsman or inspector general
Gottheimer (D-NJ) – Amendment No. 11 – Increases and decreases funding under the Medical Services Account to improve the quality and availability of kosher meals for inpatient
residents at VA hospitals, including through exploring partnerships with certified providers that offer fresh or higher-quality options
Gottheimer (D-NJ) – Amendment No. 12 – Increases and decreases funding under the Medical Services account for the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant
Program. This program supports veteran service organizations (VSOs) in delivering nontraditional and innovative mental health services to prevent veteran suicide. Since its inception, the program has enabled communities to provide outreach, direct suicide prevention services, and vital connections to VA and local resources. Increasing funding would allow the VA to accept grant applications on a rolling basis, expanding access to life-saving services and helping to ensure that veterans and their families receive the support they need
